Auto repair in the United States is split between independent shops, dealership service departments and national chains. Independents handle most routine work (oil changes, brakes, tune-ups, check-engine diagnostics) at lower labor rates and often specialize in one make or in imports; dealers keep factory tools, software and warranty authority; chains sell speed and standard pricing on maintenance items. Most shops charge a diagnostic fee, credited toward the repair if you go ahead, and quote parts and labor separately. Certification matters: look for ASE-certified technicians and, in many states, a state repair license posted at the counter. Written estimates are required by law in most states before work begins, and you are entitled to your old parts if you ask.

Gresham is in Oregon, in the Pacific Northwest, where winters are mild and wet, summers are dry and pleasant, and outdoor recreation drives a lot of local business; hours change little through the year. Getting around Gresham is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Oregon's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Martin the manager was awesome. I had an old obs ford and he didnβt judge me one bit and got the vacuum limes all rerouted like they should be and took charge he was really patient with me as well explaining it all to me. My old truck is finally running right. Jordan I think her name was super friendly. This is a great honest shop. Markup is a little tickled but itβs much cheaper and less of a headache for me then doing the work myself. You pay for convenience. But itβs well worth the money because they do the job right. They definitely donβt take your money. They also laid Uber back and forth because the old ford put up a fight

Reverse lights not working, I assumed they could fix it. They called, said it was a POM/GEM issue costing approximately $1,700 to repair. They then told me it would take approximately 4-8 weeks to repair and they did not want my vehicle there that long. I took the vehicle to Paul's Automotive. They replaced a relay and had the vehicle back to me with in 3 hours. In short, poor diagnostics; Slightly rude... we don't want your vehicle here that long and I paid $200 to be told to get lost.

Took my truck in for an oil change and brake inspection , they said I had about 2 mm of wear left and should get the brakes replaced. Made an appointment for today and it was confirmed and when I took it in the guy said they had a lot going on but they would find someone to replace the brakes , then I said I can reschedule , no he said we will find someone to do it today. Approximately 2 hours and the mechanic said There is nothing wrong with the brakes there is 4mm of wear left , I went to pick up my truck and told the guy at the desk I will not ever come back and he just said ok. I wonder if they had time to replace my brakes would they have done the work despite nothing was wrong with the brakes . You decide .

Watch out for your wallet! While car-sitting while we were out of town, my elderly MIL took our very old car in for a battery, and came out $6,500 poorer. They recommended and did all sorts of repairs, tire replacement, etc. that were not needed. Itβs ultimately our problem since she approved it all, but they really preyed on an old lady who of course agreed when they said these things were needed for safety. We would never have put so much money into repairing a 17 year old car that we are close to replacing anyway. And the items and prices on the itemized bill were ridiculous. Weβve been working with a trusted local (not Gresham) mechanic on this car so actually have a needs & cost comparison. This Honest-1 totally fleeced my MIL. Watch out. Get 2nd opinions for anything beyond an oil change.

I thought I was having my car towed in for and estimate. They called and I approved the repairs thinking this would take days. Its not even 5pm on the same day!! As I write this with the car working perfectly in the driveway! And far less than I expected.
